Reclaiming History for Your Home
Established in 2004, Antique-Floorings (Antique Wood Floorings, Inc.) is a family operation bringing you
rich, historic, 350 year old wood reclaimed out of textile mills, factories and warehouses built during the late 1800's and
early 1900's that are scheduled to be razed. These notable structures were built using America's first generation heart
pine trees. Trees that had been used as shields during the civil war!
A demolition crew carefully removes the lumber, decking and beams. All usable material is stacked ready for pick up from the site directly to Antique-Floorings
where we process what appears to be "good for nothin'"
wood, only to uncover the beauty and warmth of its rich tones, large knots and distinctive grains that come only from natural
slow growth trees that were over 250 years old when harvested for construction.
We begin the processing by de-nailing the decking (which was the ceiling of level of the
mill and the floor of the next level). Once all the nails are removed, we rough cut and square the antique
wood in preparation for milling/processing into two types of wood floors: Solid wood and Engineered (prefinished) wood flooring.
