Orr-LyonsMill.JPG

Some of the wood used to make our flooring was reclaimed from Orr-Lyons Mill in Anderson, SC.  It opened as a textile mill in 1899 and closed nearly 100 years later.   Employing some 700 workers with 1,500 living within the mill village called "Orrville".  The mills built churches and schools for their employees.  Anderson County grew to over 45,000 residents and 60+ mills.  This progress brought about the need for transportation, birthing street car lines.  Multitudes of people rode the lines from their homes to schools to church to work, which brought recreational developments such as parks, ball fields and beautification projects to life.
